Same Day Treatment

How to Access Services that we Provide (such as a clinical consultation, advice, medication, contraception etc.)

We have a diverse work-force and your request for services may be managed by staff members other than a Doctor.

You will need to provide information about your request for services, in order that our staff can signpost you to the correct staff member and we can then meet your needs in the most expedient and timely way. You may write down your request if you prefer not to say/speak it out loud at our reception desks, or we can provide a private space for you to explain to us. If a patient is unwilling to provide information about their request for an appointment, they will be booked initially with the Clinical Matron, who will triage & treat, or escalate or signpost elsewhere, if necessary.

Our Clinical Matron will triage and treat (diagnose and prescribe) most ‘same day appointment requests’ that are not appropriate for the ‘Pharmacy Minor Ailments scheme’ but any patients with mental health need or problems arising with newborn babies will be managed by our Duty Doctor.

Our Outreach Matron will manage clinical care plans for the frail, housebound and vulnerable patients and help to educate those patients on how to prevent any conditions from escalating or deteriorating. She will also ensure that Doctors and other health and care services are involved to ensure our patients are well-supported.

Our Practice Pharmacist (or a member of her team) may be best placed to undertake your medication review and liaise with you in relation to your medications, dosages, potential drug interactions etc.

Having all of these other healthcare professionals allows our Doctors to lead our Clinical Teams and to manage the more complex needs of patients.

New and follow-up appointments for all of our clinicians will be booked by our administrative staffs to ensure that our patient needs are managed by the most appropriate member of staff. Fit note renewals should be discussed with our administrative staff who will help with this type of request. We offer face to face and telephone consultations to help meet our patients’ needs. If you wish to discuss more than one condition additional appointment slots will be needed to ensure there is time to do this.

We encourage you to view results and order repeat prescriptions using our online services, as this may be done from the comfort of your armchair or anywhere else if you have a Smartphone. Just ask the receptionists to provide your login details (which you should use within 24 hours to register). You can also view your immunization record and many other things using this service.

Please be assured that we will endeavour to complete your request at the earliest opportunity and this will depend on the nature of your request and its urgency. If your request means you need to see or speak to someone, appointments can often be booked up to 4 weeks in advance.
